Hippeastrum is one of the most popular indoor flowering bulbs. Hundreds of cultivars are available, ranging from pure white through shades of pink, salmon, red and burgundy. Many flower during the wintertime and grow well on a sunny windowsill. They are attractive outdoor plants in warm temperate climates and the tropics.
