Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia)
This tropical tree is famous for its delicate foliage and its spectacular displays of purple-blue flowers. Native to southern South America, it is cultivated throughout the world's frost-free regions. Jacarandas are durable and easy to grow, making them ideal street trees. They are happiest in areas with cool, dry winters and hot, wet summers. Jacarandas seed readily, and they are invasive in some parts of the world. They should not be planted where they are known to be invasive, and they should be monitored carefully elsewhere.
